Mizuhiki (水引) is an ancient Japanese art form that uses a special cord. (6th century)

The cord is created from rice paper, that is tightly wound, starched to give it stiffness, and then colored. The art form was used to tie up the hair of the samurai.

Fates has designed a new combination of modern rubber and the traditional Mizuhiki threads. You give the knotted balls, called "tama", to people you have a connection with.
Mizuhiki plays an important role in Japanese culture as a symbol of affection, warmth, and togetherness.

Handmade by local ladies in Kobe, Japan.
